US Plast cast acrylic is the PMMA sheet solution for projects where extrusion falls short: thicknesses up to 40 mm, sizes of 2030 × 3050 mm, unlimited colors, and special finishes. It is produced at the US Plast Group’s cast acrylic plant, which is fully automated via SCADA, and each sheet bears a unique identification number.
What is poured acrylic?
It is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) that is poured in liquid form between two glass molds and polymerizes into a sheet. This process allows for thicker gauges, a surface with high optical quality, and better performance in deep machining and polishing than extruded sheet. It complies with the EN ISO 7823-1 standard.
Technical Advantages
- Transparency: 92 % light transmission (ASTM D1003) with a haze of 0.5 % in glass.
- Thicknesses ranging from 2.8 to 40 mm in sizes up to 2030 × 3050 mm.
- Traceability: A unique identification number for each sheet and thickness measurement using laser triangulation.
- Surface hardness: Rockwell M 103 and a density of 1.19 g/cm³.
- Finishes: satin, anti-glare, day and night, fluorescent, diffuser, matte, and glossy, in an unlimited range of colors.
- 10-year limited warranty.
Applications in Mexico
Large-format aquariums and fish tanks, windows and glass enclosures, areas of hospitals and clinics, displays of point of sale, museum design, and pieces that are meticulously crafted and polished.
Cast or Extruded Acrylic: How to Choose
- Select "Strain" If you need a thickness greater than 12 mm, colors or special effects, deep machining, or high-quality edge polishing.
- Choose extruded for signage, lighting, and displays ranging from 1 to 12 mm, where thickness uniformity and cost are the primary considerations.
