Multiwall polypropylene

2- to 10-mm-thick multiwall polypropylene sheet with UV protection: does not break in impact tests, is chemical-resistant, does not absorb moisture, and is recyclable.

Multiwall polypropylene

US Plast multiwall polypropylene is a rigid, lightweight, waterproof honeycomb sheet with high impact and chemical resistance. It is available in thicknesses ranging from 2 to 10 mm, with UV protection and in nine colors, and is a durable alternative to cardboard and wood for packaging, displays, and signage.

What is multiwall polypropylene?

It is a twin-wall polypropylene sheet: two layers joined by internal ribs that provide rigidity while keeping the weight very low, ranging from 450 to 2,100 g/m² depending on the gauge. Unlike corrugated signage sheet, it is used in parts that require rigidity, chemical resistance, and a long service life.

Technical Advantages

  • Impact: It does not fracture in Charpy notched impact tests (ISO 179) or Izod impact tests (ISO 180).
  • Chemical resistance and zero moisture absorption, suitable for humid environments and washable.
  • Temperature: Vicat softening point of 154 °F / 68 °C (ISO 306) and heat deflection temperature of 185 °F / 85 °C.
  • UV Protection and a thickness tolerance of ±0.15 mm.
  • Flame-retardant version Class V0, available upon request.
  • Recyclable, with a density of 905 kg/m³ (ASTM D1505).

Applications in Mexico

Dividers and returnable packaging for the automotive industry, boxes and containers made of logistics, indoor and outdoor signage, trade shows, and architectural models.

How to Choose the Right Size

  • 2 to 4 mm: signage, displays, and models.
  • 5 to 6 mm: dividers, protective covers, and lightweight cases.
  • 8 to 10 mm: Containers and returnable packaging designed to withstand heavy loads and rough handling.

Frequently Asked Questions About Multiwall Polypropylene

What are the available thicknesses for multiwall polypropylene?

2 to 10 mm (0.079 to 0.400 in).

Is it resistant to moisture and chemicals?

Yes. It does not absorb moisture and has high chemical resistance, which is why it is used in damp and washable environments.

Is there a flame-retardant version?

Yes, US Plast offers V0-rated flame-retardant polypropylene upon request.

What is it used for?

Returnable packaging and automotive dividers, boxes and containers, signage, displays, and models.

What is the difference between this and corrugated polypropylene?

Multiwall is used for rigid, long-lasting parts that must withstand chemical and impact stress; corrugated is the economical, printable option for signage and construction site protection.
