The PET-G from US Plast is a transparent copolyester sheet designed for thermoforming: it allows for deep drawing and complex curves without pre-drying, is impact-resistant, and, in its UV-free version, is suitable for food contact. It is manufactured in York, Pennsylvania, in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom.
What is PET-G?
PET-G (glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate) is a transparent thermoplastic with a light transmission of 89 % that can be molded at low temperatures. Since it does not require pre-drying, it shortens the thermoforming cycle and reduces the cost per part compared to other transparent materials such as polycarbonate.
Technical Advantages
- Thermoforming without pre-drying, with good definition in complex shapes.
- Transparency: 89 % light transmission (ASTM D1003).
- Sterilizable and suitable for contact with food in the version without UV protection.
- Easy to make: It is cut with a laser and shears; surface scratches are removed with a heat gun.
- Continuous use up to 65 °C and a 10-year limited warranty.
Applications in Mexico
Displays and showcases for point of sale, protective screens, thermoformed packaging for food, signage, and components for medical team.
PET-G, acrylic or polycarbonate
- PET-G: The best choice for fast thermoforming and food contact.
- Acrylic: Greater gloss and scratch resistance for signage and displays.
- Polycarbonate: Maximum impact and temperature resistance.
